When they win the fight to send unknowns in to people’s residences and collect borrower’s/purchasers home data, their next step is to send that data overseas for report writing… how many appraisers are using that internet 15 dollars a report writing service already?

I had to say something on this. I just saw an ad for the valuation expo conference. AMC’s and banks know that what they’re willing to pay appraisers is not profitable. They have given the option of paying the conference registration fee in three installments to make it affordable! What an insult! I hope all appraisers are astute enough to see the irony in this and have the courage to stand up for their worth!

The recent Fannie Mae newsletter with the video of the young man talking about how it was so wonderful to discover appraising as a career. Has anyone told him how libelous his job is for such little pay? How easily he can be fined or lose his license trying to appease his employers, who will drop him like a hot potato if the s**it hits the fan? Has anyone told him how volatile his “career” is if some AMC decides to blackball him because he wouldn’t bring value in? Has anyone told him that he will be living with his parents for the rest of his life with the pay he is getting?

It occurs to me that within the real estate appraisal industry, the principal of ‘consent of the governed’ is being completely ignored.

In the words of James Okeefe, ‘They are manufacturing consent’. REVAA claims to represent the industry, but only one out of four appraisers nationally work for amc’s, and of those twenty five percent whom work for amc’s, most ride the bench.

Watch this. Get inspired. Still waiting for whistleblowers from the amc industry. Could it possibly be true that every single employee whom has graced the halls of amc companies nationwide have no conscious and are truly that unethical that nobody would blow a whistle with inside disclosure? Truth is on our side, or at least it’s supposed to be. You’d think most amc appraisers would have grown tired of being complicit in defrauding home owners for mere discounted appraisal orders by now. Things are happening and I hold out hope that someone from the amc world will finally come forward with the evidence we all know is there, somewhere.

As I see more and more ‘new’ names posting in AB, I am encouraged. It tells me the message IS getting out. Appraisers are starting to find their voices. Collectively we had a learning curve in how to fight back. We are also diverse and have often competing interests. Despite that, those willing to take the time to become informed are starting to speak out, and more importantly…to act than we had four years ago.

Whoever would have thought four years ago, that ONE appraiser could bring down the Coester VMS low ball, price fixing machine?

REVAA is next.

First, not sure what comments on Facebook do. Second, I think appraisers would act more if they knew what would make a difference. Appraiser feel pushed around and rocking the boat many times can only get you less work. Just sayin.

Unfortunately, I think there are more hungry appraisers doing these hybrids than appraisers who refuse. I’ve spoken to several who admit to doing them (in some form or another) and if they admit it, there are always those who deny it and are doing it anyway. I am vocally anti-hybrid, however, those of us who are anti and vocal are far outnumbered by the meek appraisers who say nothing and the hungry appraisers who take these assignments.
