My comment is, Has any headway been made since this article was written. Has the author or anyone followed up? Has anyone taken any action to make sure that appraisers are no longer placed on a blacklist without just cause? If not, why has no one has contacted state licensing departments and or professional originations like Virginia Coalition of Appraiser Professionals, or the Maryland Association of Appraisers etc.

Great article. You can get blacklisted for a variety of personal reasons as well, which is why a gse blacklist is walking on the razors edge. Appraisers are routinely removed from roster for being a day late and a dollar short. An upset salesman who works closely with a mortgage loan originator can spark a chain reaction of blacklisting that could go all the way to the top. That happens every day of the week in the appraisal industry. To answer the final thought of the article; What it will take is the lenders loaning their own money. The grand GSE experiment is a failure. The original mantras of these massive government organizations are not even followed any more. Bail out, bail ins, and never ending sequences of nepotism and cronyism. Nothing short of fines based on income or absence of taxpayer support will lead to lending reform. There is no rule that could be written, which will counter the burdensome influence of lending approaches where the taxpayers shelter the risk.

SERIOUS QUESTION
Why would you want to get reinstated?

*Mortgage applications are now at their lowest in 2 decades.
*The refi market was cremated over a year ago.
*Your work load per order has doubled.
*Your liability has increased at least five fold.
*Your fees have decreased by 30 to 50 percent.
*You can only market your services to banks & lawyers (thanks but no thanks)
*You are now asked to loan your wages (what remains of them) to AMCs (who may or may not take bankruptcy at any time)

These are not lemons that you've been handed to transform into lemonade boys.
You've been handed piles and piles of manure. I suggest using it for fertilizer and planting your seed (talent) in new ground.

If you are still praying for a turnaround you should go into the ministry. Anyone who has faith in this profession after 5 long years could easily move mountains, part seas, and split entire planets.
